Ghost of Yotei: The New Lord Walkthrough

Even the most unlikeable of men can turn a new leaf, and this is exactly what you see in Ghost of Yotei’s The New Lord quest.

The world of Ghost of Yotei is filled with evil men looking to cheat you out of everything, but some do have a change of heart, as evident in ‘The New Lord’ quest in the game. This quest goes over the story of Shiro, a character who previously cheated you out of money.

While you may be inclined to hate on him and slay him down, The New Lord shines new light on his past actions, creating an unlikely friendship over the course of the quest. If you’re having trouble with this quest, this guide is here to walk you through it.

How To Start The New Lord in Ghost of Yotei

Complete the Shiro the Swindler first (Source: Sony Interactive Entertainment)

You begin this quest by visiting Lord Kato’s estate after completing the Shiro the Swindler bounty. Once that bounty is complete, visit the Bounty Board at Matsumae Residences at Oshima Coast, and you’ll find a bounty on a band of Oni Raiders, put out by a certain Lord Kato.

Follow this bounty up and visit Lord Kato’s estate, and you’ll find that he isn’t present. Talk to his subordinate, and you’ll soon be interrupted by news of Oni Raiders. The subordinate will ask you for your help in dealing with the raiders, kicking off the quest.

How To Complete The New Lord in Ghost of Yotei

Once you agree to help the estate deal with the Oni Raiders, head north along the road leading out of Oshima Coast. Follow the trail and you’ll run into a group of Oni Raiders. Kill them all, and you’ll then hold up the last one for interrogation. The last raider will reveal that someone stole from them, and the Oni Raiders tracked the thief to Oshima Coast. The raider will then die, completing the bounty.

Head back to Lord Kato’s estate, and you’ll be told to head inside to collect payment. Head inside, and you’ll learn that Lord Kato is, in fact, Shiro. Shiro has been pretending to be a lord but, surprisingly, has been effective at helping the people. Instead of killing him in anger, he wants you to follow him to the docks for an urgent matter. Follow Shiro to the docks.

Along the way, he’ll reveal that he cheated you earlier of the money because he needed it to help the people of the estate. He’s seeing the damage Saito is causing and wishes to help those in need. Once you reach the docks, you’ll find that some Oni Raiders are holding the estate’s supplies. Help Shiro kill the Oni Raiders and retrieve his supplies to complete the quest.
