Ghost of Yotei’s Those Who Leave quest dives into the lives of two musicians who walked different paths. One was content with the peace music brought him, while the other was honor-bound and had to leave his passion behind.

Those Who Leave is a peaceful quest with no violence whatsoever, but is underlined with a tale of tragedy. This is one of the easier quests in the game, so much so that you may wonder if you’re doing something wrong. If you have any doubts, our guide is here to clear them for you.

How To Begin Those Who Leave in Ghost of Yotei

You begin the quest by talking to the Ronin in the Musician’s Camp north of Shizunai Woods and south of Huranui’s Rest Inn. As you approach this area, you’ll hear the music playing on his musical instrument. As he spots you, he’ll ask you to spare a few coins. Press R2 to give a small donation, and then press R2 again to talk to him.

The Ronin will then spot the Shamisen you’re carrying with you. He’ll request you to play the instrument for him as he wishes to hear it. Play a song for him to begin the quest.

How To Complete Those Who Leave in Ghost of Yotei

As you play a song on your Shamisen, the Ronin will acknowledge your skills, stating that you could help him with something. Follow the Ronin and talk to him along the way. He’ll tell you that he’s been trying to compose a song for a few years, and he’s stuck on it. Follow him to a camp and help him set up a campfire.
With the fire set and the sun setting, the Ronin needs your help making new music.

Sit down with him by the fire and listen to him speak. He’ll tell you of his music buddy who left music to fight for Lord Saito. Listen to the man’s tale and play a song on your Shamisen to complete the quest and unlock the Song of Revenge.
