This mode puts the camera closer during combat for players to experience a much more intense experience of the fight. The developers also confirmed there will be an increased amount of mud and blood splatter in the Miike Mode in Ghost of Yotei.

Watanabe Mode

In contrast to the Miike Mode, the Watanabe Mode adds original lo-fi tracks during exploration and combat. These beats are directed by Watanabe himself. Given the picturesque and vivid setting of Ghost of Yotei, the Watanabe Mode will surely add a different and unique dimension to the gameplay.

That’s all we know for now about the two modes. For those wondering, the Kurosawa Mode is returning with Ghost of Yotei, meaning you will be able to experience the proceedings in a similar hue and style to the legendary director’s films. It is likely that the success of this cinematic mode in Ghost of Tsushima propelled Sucker Punch to introduce other such modes for players to tinker around with. Whether they will be similarly successful remains to be seen.

Ghost of Yotei releases on the PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. The State of Play Gameplay Deepdive also announced exclusive limited-edition controllers and PS5 consoles designed for fans.
