Hades 2 does not have any co-op features. As the game was designed as a single-player experience, there are no multiplayer elements like co-op or similar online features. However, there are cross-save features that will let you play across multiple platforms.
Why Does Hades 2 Not Have Co-Op Features?
The developers of Hades 2, Supergiant Games, have made it clear from the early access days of this game that it would not have multiplayer features. This includes co-op play with friends. In their own words, they were “creating the gameplay and narrative of Hades II with a solo experience in mind.”
While this is certainly disappointing news for those looking forward to playing with friends, it’s worth remembering that the first game in this series Hades was also created in a similar mold. Both games are roguelike dungeon crawlers with action RPG (role-playing game) elements. And it went on to sell over a million copies and is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time.
So if players end up getting a similar experience with Hades 2, coming from an experienced developer who has stated that the first game was one of their best, that disappointment is sure to be short-lived.
What Is Hades 2 About?
Hades 2 follows Melinoe, the younger sister of Zagreus, the protagonist of the last game. Her mission in this game is to defeat Chronos, the Titan of Time, who wishes revenge on all gods and mortals after they defeated him eons ago. She will be aided by the other Olympian Gods, including her mentor Hecate.
Just like Zagreus, Melinoe also has a basis in Greek mythology. In those myths, she is a goddess of the underworld, known to bring “nightmares and madness.” While the myths often vary on whether her father was Zeus or Hades, her mother’s identity has always been Persephone. As per the myths, Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and the wife of Hades. So expect Hades 2 to address this in some form.
