Thalamus is an uncommon resource in Hades that upgrades certain Arcana Cards and incantations. Here’s how you get it.

Hades 2 has many resources that help you buff Melinoe up, such as Thalamus. It’s a resource first unlocked in Chaos’ realm and can be unlocked only after acquiring a shovel. It has a few uses in the game, from upgrading specific Arcana Cards to using it as a resource for incantations. Here’s how you can get Thalamus.
How To Get Thalamus in Hades 2

You can unlock Thalamus in Hades 2 only after acquiring a shovel and entering the Chaos Realm. The Silver Spade is unlocked after completing the Night’s Craftwork incantation in your cauldron, and 8 silver is required to purchase it. The incantation allows you to use gathering tools, after which you can purchase it from the Silver Pool at the Crossroads for 8 silver.
After you acquire a Silver Spade, you’ll have to do some runs looking for a black hole in the ground. This transports you to Chaos’ realm but takes a part of your HP for entry. Chaos boons will power you up significantly but also curse you in the process. Since Hades 2 is a rogue-like, you can get this room in any location, and there’s more. You’ll have to find a hole to use your Silver Spade, which gives you Origin Seeds.
Since Chaos gates are rare, you’ll have to play for a while before you get the required Thalamus. This is the only way to acquire Thalamus in the game, and the Wretched Broker and Charon’s Shop are of no help when it comes to Thalamus. These seeds can be planted in your home grounds and will sprout after 7 encounters (for every seed.) After the seeds sprout, you can go collect 2 Thalamus for every Origin seed. You can plant up to two seeds currently.
All Uses of Thalamus in Hades 2

Thalamus is mainly required for one incantation, Unraveling a Fateful Bond, and upgrading the Judgment Card. The incantation allows you to breathe the surface air, opening an entire region to explore, as well as progressing the story further. This incantation becomes crucial in the mid-game, and it is recommended to unlock this as soon as you get the Silver Spade. The Surface has locations such as the City of Ephyra, the Rift of Thessaly, Mount Olympus, and the Summit.
