The Second Sentinel is a formidable and worthy opponent in Hollow Knight Silksong, and this is how you beat them.
The Second Sentinel is another boss you can encounter in Hollow Knight Silksong. It is no different from other bosses, and you can take it down with the right strategy and loadout. Initially, you will meet this as an NPC as part of a side quest, and it will fight alongside Hornet in certain areas after you do it a solid favor.

Where To Find the Second Sentinel in Hollow Knight Silksong?
At first, this isn’t a hostile NPC, and you can find them on the west side of the Cogwork Core. They can’t be spotted right away, especially since they are concealed behind a breakable wall, and you will need three Cogheart Pieces to reactivate the Second Sentinel. After you revive it, it will start appearing in different areas and occasionally help out in fights.
For the boss encounter, the Second Sentinel can be found somewhere in the High Halls. This fight is part of the Final Audience wish, and beating it will mark the end of the quest.
Second Sentinel Overview
Patience is the key to winning any boss battle in Hollow Knight Silksong. While the Second Sentinel will try to use theatrics to its advantage, all you have to do is bob and weave out of danger and then strike when they least expect it. It will sometimes jump off the ground and perform diagonal strikes, which can be easy to evade once you’ve nailed the action cues.
Second Sentinel Attacks
These are all the attacks the boss will throw at you during the fight:
- Slash and Stab: The Second Sentinel will perform a stab and slash attack or vice versa. You will know once they start winding up their arms with both blades in hand.
- Energy Waves: This attack will come from the blades as the boss starts swiping and it will have decent range. Hop over each wave to avoid being caught and sustaining damage.
- Twirling Ascent: This move will be much trickier to avoid, especially since it will be in an upward motion and has a longer hitbox. Roll under the attack and watch the blades.
Tips and Tricks
Fortunately, this isn’t some superboss with multiple phases or with hundreds of attacks. Most of the Second Sentinel’s attacks are predictable, especially if you play it safe. You can fight aggressively; however, this will put Hornet at risk of sustaining damage.
This boss fights with only two blades, and there is only so much it can do. Wait for your moment to strike and repeat the process until the boss is down. Once the Second Sentinel is down for the count, the wish will be fulfilled, and you will get the Reserve Bind as a reward.
