In Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access, players can’t reach the end of the game until the full release, so how long is BG3 Early Access and how far can you play?

Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Story Lenght and How Far You Can Play
In Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access, you can play until you reach the end of the first act. Even though the story is limited, you’ll get a reasonable taste of it and want to learn more. The first act is around 20 hours long, but it depends on how much time you spend on combat and exploration. Speedrunners finished it in only 7 minutes. But it won’t be the case for most players.
During your first-act journey, you’ll learn the story’s premise and why you urgently need to look for the cure for your character’s condition. Joined by powerful companions, you’ll shortly visit Hell, then a Ravaged Beach, Druid Grove, Blighted Village, and dungeons such as Dank Crypt. Each NPC has dialogue, opinion or quest for you, and all are fully voiced.
Level Cap and Class or Spells Limitations
Another important limitation in Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access is the level cap. After the December 2022 change, players’ characters can only progress to level 5. As of now, players can choose from many races, classes and subclasses, but developers confirmed that more would be added in the full game version. Currently, in BG3 Early Access, you can pick from the following classes:
- Barbarian
- Bard
- Cleric
- Druid
- Fighter
- Paladin
- Ranger
- Rogue
- Sorcerer
- Warlock
- Wizard
Until the official, full Baldur’s Gate 3 release, we don’t expect any further early-access story or level cap additions. To play more of BG3, you’ll need to wait until August 31st 2023.
