The Faith-Leap trial in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the three main trials of the Gauntlet of Shar found in Act 2.
The Faith-Leap trial is the third trial in the Gauntlet of Shar in Baldur’s Gate 3. In Act 2, you find the Gauntlet and its three trials in the Shadow-Cursed lands. Out of the three trials, the Faith-Leap trial often proves to be frustrating for players due to its limited visibility. They are expected to traverse an invisible path driven by sheer faith.

What is the Gauntlet Of Shar?
The Gauntlet of Shar is hidden under the Thorm Mausoleum in the Shadow-Cursed lands. The gauntlet is necessary to progress in the Daughter of Darkness quest that is tied to Shadowheart. You have to go through three trials: the Soft Step Trial, the Self-Same Trial, and the Faith-Leap Trial.
How to Complete the Faith-Leap Trial
In this trial, you must navigate a room by walking across a mist that only reveals the path when you step on the correct spots. While trial-and-error was perhaps intended, it makes for an incredibly sour experience. One way of going about this trial is using the level 3 spell “Fly” to move. However, some players may not have access to this. Luckily, there is a simple way to complete the trial:
- When in the altar room, look around, and you will spot other altars spread across holding glowing orbs. The platforms supporting these altars are safe zones.
- Head to the edge of the mist and pull your character back. When you do so, you’ll notice a black path briefly emerge in the mist before disappearing again.
- Take note of the path that leads to the next platform and memorize it.
- Work your way to the platform relying on your memory of the path.
- Do this for all platforms by memorizing the correct routes.
- Then, you will reach the end and collect the Umbral gem.
Tips And Strategies For The Faith-Leap Trial
As each step you take in the trial is important, we highly recommend using panning the camera around and examining the room patiently. Furthermore, since each mistake sets you back to the start, quicksaves are your best friend in the Faith-Leap trial. Quicksave everytime you reach the platform, and should you die, quickly reload the save to resume where you left off.
