How to Complete Restless Spirits in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Dragons soar the skies, undead roam the underground, and restless spirits haunt the land of Thedas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Restless Spirits is a side quest in the game that brings you face-to-face with the supernatural in Thedas and can be a bit intimidating for new Dragon Age players. The quest expands on the lore of Thedas and gives us better insight into Emmerich’s mind. 

In this guide, we shall go over the Restless Spirits side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, how to start the quest, and the way to go about completing it. 

How To Start Restless Spirits in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

You can start the Restless Spirits side quest shortly after recruiting Emmerich to your party. Head to the Laboratory in the Lighthouse and talk to Emmerich. The professor will inform you of an outbreak of hauntings in Thedas and suggest looking into the issue. He also recommends investigating displaced wisps. Conclude the conversation and head to the Necropolis Halls to begin the Restless Spirits side quest. 

How To Complete Restless Spirits in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The quest begins in the Lost Watcher’s Wing in the Necropolis Halls. Pass through the wing and enter the Hollow Belfry. You have to gather four wisps in this hall and can do so by solving puzzles.

First Wisp

The first wisp rests on the southeast corner of the hall. There are four plaques near the wisp with switches that can be activated. The first plaque is right next to the table, and the remaining three are on the wall ahead. Press all four switches to solve the puzzle and attract the wisp. The wisp will then follow you. Lead the wisp to the receptacle in the hall to gather it.

Second Wisp

The second wisp rests in the room right next to the receptacle. Head to the room and light the two braziers next to the wisp. Then, command Emmerich to use Placate Mischief to release the wisp. Lead the wisp to the receptacle. 

Third Wisp

The third wisp is in a room with red crystals on the opposite end of the receptacle. Enter the room and pull the lever. This will open a room adjacent. Break the red crystals in both rooms to attract the wisp and lead it to the receptacle. 

Fourth Wisp

Enter the room next to where you found the third wisp and pull the lever. This will open a Veil Vulnerability in the main hall. Use Emmerich’s abilities to summon a hand that will lead you to the final wisp. Lead the wisp to the receptacle. 

Gathering all the wisps will open a gate leading to the Chamber of the Unforged. Defeat the demons in the chamber to complete the Restless Spirits side quest.
