Zombie Villagers have two ways of spawning in the Overworld. First is naturally at night or in dark places, like most other hostile mobs. The second is through a normal Villager getting bitten and infected by a Zombie. This is the reason why Villagers tend to stay indoors at night.

Once you locate a Zombie Villager, you have to trap it properly. Use the image above as a reference on how you can trap one. The reason for doing so is that the curing process takes a long time. During the entirety, the Zombie Villager is vulnerable to many mobs. There is also the factor that a Zombie Villager burns in daylight, so covering it is essential.

After you have caught your Zombie Villager, cover it with the Weakness effect. You can do it by simply throwing a Splash Potion of Weakness on a Zombie Villager. Then you have to feed a Golden Apple to the weakness-affected Zombie Villager.

You can craft a Golden Apple by surrounding an Apple with Gold Bars in a crafting table. Gold Bars can be made by smelting gold ores, which are found underground. Apples are dropped by tree leaf blocks after you cut down all the wood of the tree. Make sure to let the blocks disappear by themselves to increase the chance of Apple drops.

Once you use the Golden Apple, the maximum it can take is five minutes for the cure to take effect. Once cured, the Zombie Villager turns back into a normal Villager. But why should you do so?

Discounts From a Cured Zombie Villager

After curing the Villager, it will offer high amounts of discounts when purchasing anything from them. This is great because you can artificially infect as many villagers as you want, cure them back, and create a whole trading hall with all the Villagers offering you great discounts.
