Let us discuss how to defeat the Mysterious Man, a very lengthy boss fight in Death Stranding 2. Let’s explore the strategies and the weapons.

Death Stranding 2 takes you on a surreal, eerie, and high-tech journey as you take the role of Sam Porter Bridges. The stunning visuals of this game complement the gripping narrative. This emotional roller coaster of a game can sometimes awe you, and other times, keep you on your toes. The Mysterious Man in Death Stranding 2 is a dweller of the Strange Realm in the game and one of the most intense bosses. Once you enter Strange Realm, you are disconnected from the chiral network and the Social Strand System.
Let us discuss how to take down the Mysterious Man in Death Stranding 2.
Defeating the Mysterious Man in Death Stranding 2

Before You Begin
First, you need ample preparation to face off against the Mysterious Man. The following are what we suggest:
1. Have a healthy stock of Blood Bags to replenish lost HP.
2. Shotguns, assault rifles, and Hematic Grenades are your best friends in this bout.
3. The Mystery Man is not the only opponent here. Use Decoy Hologrenades and Smoke Grenades to be stealthy and take down hordes of enemies. Be as stealthy as possible before engaging the Mystery Man.
4. The Mystery Man can shift position through teleportation. Be observant and notice the pattern carefully. The battle could prove lengthy, so patience is of the essence here.

Phase 1: Fight from the Rooftop
You catch a glimpse of him in a cutscene, surrounded by his minions. Take down his lackeys in this candle-lit graveyard one after the other. Remember, stealth is your best friend here. Start your mission from the left-side building, as you’ll get some weapons and healing items. As you clear your path, gradually ascend to the rooftop: This way, you observe both the Soldier BTs and the ever-teleporting Mysterious Man. You should be able to deal significant damage to him in this stage if you have a rifle. You can then jump to the small bridge if enemies get uncomfortably close. No fall damage is incurred (Lou might get upset).
Phase 2: Teleportation to the Church

You must follow our target teleports. He’ll instantly relocate near the church. Follow the afterburn in the form of sparks he leaves behind. A shotgun will serve you great at this stage because there are many tight quarters to come—an ideal situation to deal some hefty burst damage. Do not use up your grenades. They will be more useful at the final stage.
Final Phases: The Chase
This is where your patience can be tested. The Mysterious Man could keep on teleporting, leaving Soldier BTs as he does so. If you focus on the BT’s too much, your target will keep slipping away. Here, you need to focus on the Mysterious Man, and the grenades will help you immensely. Whenever he is exposed, go for him with all the available firepower.
After you have depleted his HP, a cutscene will commence where he will appear on the stairs at the foot of a pedestal, surrounded by candles. Here, he reveals his name, Neil Vana (sounds eerily close to Nirvana and Lou has a wisecrack about it.)
