The Yetuga is the very first boss in The First Berserker Khazan’s main story. While it is the first boss of the game, it is still far from a pushover. In fact, the Yetuga is easily more challenging than the Blade Phantom and even the Volbaino. This is simply because during this boss fight, you don’t have access to all three weapon types.

Instead, you’re forced to use the Dual Wield. Although the Dual Wield is a great weapon, it’s very skill-dependent, and during this boss fight, you don’t have access to the skill tree either. Essentially, you need to defeat the boss using just the weapon’s raw power and your reflexes. Thankfully, defeating Yetuga is quite easy once you know how to counter its attacks.

Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat the Yetuga in The First Berserker Khazan.

The Yetuga is the first boss of the game’s main story campaign; as such, it’s unmissable. As you make your way through Heinmach, you will eventually reach the peak of the mountain. Covered in snow, the mountain peak is home to Wolves, Yetis, and other creatures.

The Yetuga is essentially a mutated Yeti, which has been living in the frigid cold of the mountain’s peak. The creature has roughly the same moveset as the regular Yetis, albeit with a few key differences.

The Yetuga has spikes made up of ice on its back. These spikes can be used to deal damage and also absorb attacks. While the boss uses these spikes to actively deal damage to Khazan, they are also the Yetuga’s weak points.

In addition to that, since the Yetuga’s back isn’t covered in snow, it’s also one of the weak points. In fact, initiating a Brutal Attack from the back of the boss deals more damage to it compared to doing the same from the front. The Yetuga is also weak to Fire. However, this is a weakness that you can only exploit in New Game+. For regular playthroughs, you will have to use parries, dodges, and the Dual Wield’s combos to deal damage to the boss.

The Yetuga is quite intimidating, but it’s also quite easy to take down once you get to understand its movesets. Here are some tips that will help you easily defeat the Yetuga in The First Berserker Khazan:

  • The Yetuga always starts the battle with a 2-hit slash attack combo. This attack can be easily dodged or even parried. We recommend dodging it as it’s easier. After the 2-hit combo, the Yetuga usually gives you a short window to deal damage before retreating and doing either a charge or a slam attack.
  • While the charge attack can be parried, it’s best to dodge it. While you’re trying to whittle down the boss’ Fortitude gauge, stay close to it and in the front. This way, you will be dealing damage to its ice spikes, which will stagger the boss.
  • You can also stagger the Yetuga for a short duration by performing two consecutive perfect parries. We highly recommend practicing your parry timings on the regular Yetis close to the boss’ Nexus.
  • Once the Yetuga lunges back and starts phase two, move away from the boss and stay stationary. As soon as you see the boss jump in midair, run toward either the left or the right, and mash dodge as soon as you see it coming toward you. Mashing the dodge makes it so that you don’t get hit by the boulder attack, even if you miss the perfect dodge window.
  • Following the boulder attack, the Yetuga will retreat once again and charge an ice beam attack. As soon as you see the boss moving back, quickly run behind it and start performing the Swift Attack combo. Staying behind the Yetuga keeps you safe from its ice beam.
  • The second phase is roughly identical to the first phase, and as long as you time your dodges, you should be able to defeat the Yetuga in no time.
