The potion was never intended to be a part of the game. It was initially just an experimental and unobtainable effect only meant for the purpose of mapmaking. However, due to it being excessively used by mapmakers, it was then kept in the game. However, it is only available in the creative mode and not in the survival mode.
The potion increases the effect of fortune when it comes to receiving better loot from chests. Let us take a look at how we could obtain this potion and how it can be used.
How To Find the Potion of Luck in Minecraft
Unlike other potions, you cannot simply brew up the potion of luck. This is one such item that cannot be crafted or made by your efforts but rather can only be stumbled upon if you are lucky. Ironic, isn’t it?
The potion is only obtainable in the Java edition and not the Bedrock edition. This can be obtained by going to your creative inventory. From here, search for the potion, and you should see four different types of them. The potion of luck, the splash potion of luck, the arrow of luck, and the lingering potion of luck. You can also obtain these directly by pasting this command ‘/give @s minecraft:potion{Potion:luck}’ into the game chat window.
Also, if luck favors you, you could also find these in loot chests at strongholds or temples. Though the chances are slim.
How Does the Potion of Luck Work?
The potion of luck, as the name suggests, adds an extra level of luck to the player’s luck attribute. This enhances the likelihood of yielding better rewards when looting chests. This means that you could find high-tier goods such as enchanted books with more buffs or diamond-level weapons or armor.
This also has an influence when performing activities such as fishing, increasing the luck of items you can find and reducing the chances of finding junk items. When killing mobs, you will also be presented with more loot from their drops.
