Dark and Darker features several difficult quests that involve delving into the dungeon to look for specific items and areas. The Absolutely Batty mission given by the Woodsman falls into the latter category and requires you to find the Waiting Room and extract successfully.
At first, this quest may seem far simpler than grinding to find rare monster loot for other missions, but it has several layers of difficulty to it. Let’s explore the process of finding the Waiting Room and completing the aptly named Absolutely Batty quest.
Where is the Waiting Room in Dark and Darker?
The Waiting Room is a chamber in the Inferno map in Dark and Darker. The room appears in one of the map’s three possible layouts. This means that you have a one in three chance of finding the Waiting Room every time you enter Inferno.
Subsequently, the Inferno map itself lies at the deepest level of the Forgotten Castle. Once you reach it, you’ll have to contend with powerful enemies, including mini bosses and bosses like the Demon Berserker, Demon Centaur, Lich, and Ghost King. This is where the difficulty of the Absolutely Batty quest lies, in reaching the Inferno map repeatedly to find the Waiting Room before escaping successfully.
The Waiting Room is shaped like a square staircase on the map. Refer to the image above to find it. It is a rocky space with torches spread sparsely through it, their flames fighting a losing battle with the oppressive darkness pervading the chamber.
Finding the Waiting Room in Dark and Darker
To locate the Waiting Room and complete the Absolutely Batty mission, follow the steps given below:
- Prepare: Equip your character with high-level gear that complements your build. Choose perks and skills to maximize your effectiveness in prolonged PvE. Team up with other players if possible.
- Forgotten Castle: Enter the Forgotten Castle map and use the red staircase or red portals to continue heading deeper until you reach Inferno.
- Find the Waiting Room: Search for the waiting room using the map image. Enter the room and escape the level successfully to complete the Absolutely Batty quest. If the room does not generate, repeat steps 1 and 2 until it does.
