The Blade of Oppressed Souls grants the user a unique weapon action, and you can get it during late Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3).
Blade of Oppressed Souls
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Blade of Oppressed Souls grants the user a unique weapon action called Crowning Strike. Using this action unleashes the wails of the dead that fell to your blade, and you get a chance to possibly instill Crown of Madness on the target. Crown of Madness is a magical condition that will cause the afflicted target to attack the nearest creature. However, this attack will not include the spellcaster.
Therefore, this blade is best given to a front-line melee fighter. If they are in the thick of battle and can inflict Crown of Madness on an enemy, then that target should turn and attack one of its allies. Essentially giving your character an additional hit.
Moreover, this longsword will also give you an additional 1-4 points of Psychic damage on top of the standard Slashing.
