Where To Find Elytra in Minecraft
Elytra are super rare and can only be discovered in The End, the biome where you can find the final boss of the game: Ender Dragon. Once the dragon is slain, you can look in the vicinity to find End Cities.
You can find the Elytra in a treasure room of one of the ships. However, be mindful of the Shulker that defends the treasure chest. The gravity will be reversed, and you will be thrown into the sky if the Shulker’s orb hits you.
Unfortunately, Elytra is not craftable, and you will have to explore the End City until you find a ship. It ultimately depends on your playstyle, and we would suggest that you take a shield with you to maximize your survivability.
How To Use Elytra in Minecraft
You can equip Elytra from the inventory menu by placing it in the Chestplate slot, replacing any existing chestplate armor. Elytra allows you to glide through the air—just jump from a high place like a cliff or cave ledge and press the jump button while mid-air to activate it.
As soon as the wings open, your speed will take a hit, and it gradually increases as you lose altitude. However, if you drop at a significant speed, even with the Elytra, the fall damage will kill you.
To avoid fall damage with the Elytra, you can make sharp turns mid-air to nullify your speed. Keep making sharp turns left and right to safely land from a deadly height. Additionally, you can use Fireworks to increase Elytra’s speed while flying.
