Glowing Shield
Shields in Baldur’s Gate 3 provide extra defense and armor class bonuses for your character. You can equip it to your character’s off-hand slot in the inventory and it will provide different bonuses and buffs. Your character requires shield proficiency to be able to equip it.
Here are all Glowing Shield features in BG3:

- Proficiency Requirement: Shield Proficiency
- Weight: 2.7
- Value: 440
- Location: (X: -53, Y: 470)
- Bonuses:
- Loving Protection: Once per Short Rest, if you are below 50% Hits Points and take damage, you gain 8 Temporary Hit Points.
- Classes That Can Equip It: Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Ranger, Bard – College of Valour, Paladin
- Races That Can Equip It: Human, High-Elf
- Companions That can equip It: Halsin, Jaheira, Lae’zel, Minthara, Shadowheart, Minsc, Lae’zel
How to Get Glowing Shield in Baldur’s Gate 3
You can find Glowing Shield on a hill behind the Goblin Camp in Act 1. It’s safely hidden in the locked chest exactly at (X: -53, Y: 470). Be aware of traps, and make sure you have a character with high perception to help you discover them, as those can deal high damage. Use Astarion or character with Sleight of Hand and high Dexterity and pass a skill check to open it. There’s no need to engage in combat or dialogue with the goblins to reach your goal. Instead, you can attempt to sneak into the location to get the loot.
