Dune Awakening’s Arrakis is filled to the brim with secrets for you to uncover. These secrets come in the form of special weapons, armor, crafting resources, and much more. Sometimes these secrets are in containers out in the open, and other times they may be in trickier spots locked behind metal grates. In the latter case, you need the Improvised Cutteray.
The Improvised Cutteray is a laser-cutting tool that cuts through metal like a hot knife through butter. This salvage tool allows you to reach places you otherwise wouldn’t, letting you collect valuable resources. It is one of the most valuable tools in the game and is surprisingly easy to miss early on. In this guide, we will go over where to find the Improvised Cutteray in Dune Awakening.

Where To Find Improvised Cutteray in Dune Awakening?
You can find the Improvised Cutteray at the very beginning of the game. In this starting area, the game will introduce you to various mechanics. You will then stumble upon a pile of bodies, and the game will display information on the looting mechanics. There are multiple bodies here you can loot. Approach the body with the blinking LED torch. Press the ‘E’ key to loot this body and acquire the Improvised Cutteray.
If you somehow missed the Improvised Cutteray during the starting area, your next way to acquire the item is through the Trade Market. This might be a little expensive, however, and we recommend doing so only if you have the Solari to spare. You will find the market in Arrakeen or Harko Village. You can reach these areas by hiring a pilot at any of the Tradeposts in the game.
Another way to acquire the item is by crafting it. You can do this by unlocking the Improvised Cutteray schematic and researching it under the Salvage Products section. Once it is unlocked, you can then craft the Improvised Cutteray using 2x Salvaged Metal.
Approach any of your fabricators and press the ‘E’ key to interact with them. This will bring up a list of schematics. Find the Improvised Cutteray schematic, and you can craft it by pressing the [SPACE] key.
