Arrakis in Dune Awakening is a desert planet filled with items to collect and resources to find. Despite Solari being a currency in the game used for all forms of trade, it pales in comparison to Water. Water is used to stay hydrated most of all, but also to craft a variety of items in Dune Awakening.

There are several means to collect Water in the game, but using Windtraps is the best and most consistent method. Since Windtraps can also collect sand, you need a filter to remove it, and the Makeshift Filter is the one for the job.

The Makeshift Filter removes all dirt and sand from the wind, allowing the Water collected to be pure and free from contamination. This item is essential if you wish to acquire consumable Water in the game. If you don’t have a Makeshift Filter yet, we’re here to help you craft it.

You can’t find the Makeshift Filter by simply exploring the world. Instead, you have to craft it, and you can do so by using the following ingredients:

  • 3x Steel Ingot: You can craft these ingots by running Carbon and Iron ores through any of the Ore Refineries in the game.
  • 5x Plant Fiber: Plant Fibers can be found as growth spurs across several large rock formations in the game. You will find these sprouting out of the ground in abundance in the early-game areas. Farm the resource in those areas.
