How to Get Necklace of Elemental Augmentation in BG3
To get the Necklace of Elemental Augmentation in BG3, you must reach Crèche Y’llek during late Act 1 and make your way into the Inquisitor’s Chambers. This area of the Creche is blocked by a magical barrier that is active in the Captain’s Quarters on the east side. Additionally, be aware that going into the Inquisitor’s Chambers will advance the story and potentially make the Creche hostile to you. Consequently, make sure to fully explore and visit the doctor in the Infirmary to use the Zaith’isk Chair and receive the Awakened bonus.
When ready, head to the Captain’s Quarters. Speak to Kith’rak Therezzyn, and you can choose whether to hand over the Astral Prism or not. You can antagonize her into a fight and loot the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor. Or, you can instead choose to pickpocket it from her.
Take the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor to the console near the archway and use it to open the barrier. Then, make your way down the stone path into the Inquisitor’s Chambers. Don’t try to explore here, the Inquisitor will get impatient. Speak to him, and then play the extended scene out.
Finally, when it’s over you will be free to move around. Head into the small alcove on the right/east side of the room. Search the display case and inside you will find the Necklace of Elemental Augmentation.
How to Use the Necklace of Elemental Augmentation in BG3?
The best way to use the Necklace of Elemental Augmentation in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by equipping it to a spellcaster that has one or two elemental cantrips. Cantrips are great in the early game of BG3 because they do not cost a spell slot to use. Fire Bolt is a good early cantrip that can deal single-target damage, but also cause oil to catch fire and some barrels to explode.
Furthermore, Ray of Frost is another good option because it deals Cold damage, and also reduces the target’s movement speed. Finally, Shocking Grasp is another good option. Not only does it do Lightning damage, but it can prevent your target from using Reaction. Moreover, this cantrip has Advantage when it hits targets wearing metal armour.

FAQs about Necklace of Elemental Augmentation in Baldur’s Gate 3
Q1: Is the Necklace of Elemental Augmentation a good accessory in BG3?
Answer: The Necklace of Elemental Augmentation is a decent accessory for a spellcaster in the early game of BG3. The bonus damage to cantrips can be useful, as cantrips generally have less power but don’t cost a spell slot to use. However, since you can’t get this necklace until the late part of Act 1 it likely won’t remain relevant for long and you’ll find a better neck accessory to replace it with.
Q2: What cantrips can I use with the Necklace of Elemental Augmentation?
Answer: You can use Acid Splash (Acid damage), Fire Bolt (Fire damage), Ray of Frost (Cold damage), or Shocking Grasp (Lightning damage). Although the item tooltip also includes Thunder damage, there is no cantrip that deals Thunder damage in Baldur’s Gate 3.
