In Dune Awakening, you are constantly hunting for crafting materials and other items. Many of the resources can be used right away, hence you need to gather them, often in bulk. However, Opafire Gems aren’t super useful in your crafting pursuits. You can’t use it to craft any upgrades or items. Similarly, the resources don’t have much market value, so selling them wouldn’t yield much profit.

However, Opafire Gems have their uses, and you need to collect them. In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can gather Opafire Gems in Dune Awakening and why they are useful to you.

Where To Find Opafire Gems in Dune Awakening

You will only get Opafire Gems from buried chests. You can find these chests out in the world, exploring areas with open sand. You’ll need to perform a scan to pinpoint the areas on the sand where chests might be buried. However, doing so will require the aid of a vehicle equipped with a scanner.

Don’t try doing this on foot, as you’ll alert the sandworm when running around in open sand areas. The Ornithopter with a scanner attachment can easily scan portions of the sandy areas from the safety of the skies.

While such scans will highlight several objects, any markers on lone stretches of sand likely mean that there’s a buried chest there. You can then land and proceed to the chest location. You will need a Static Compactor tool to dig up these buried chests and loot the Opafire Gems and other items in them.
