Seagrass is useful when breeding Turtles. Explore this useful article on how you can get Seagrass in Minecraft.

Minecraft has many biomes you can travel to. One of the most underrated biomes is the Ocean. Compared to most land biomes, the Ocean does not offer too many structures or mobs to make it stand out, except for the few Ocean Monuments you find scattered around. However, items found in the Ocean do have their uses. One such item is Seagrass, a plant-like block found in all types of oceans except the frozen ones.
However, you cannot just break and collect it. To help you get some, here’s a guide on how to get Seagrass in Minecraft.

Getting Seagrass in Minecraft

Seagrass is a plant-like block that grows at the seabed level, which is right at the bottom. Thankfully, Seagrass grows in long, vine-like strands that extend upwards, making it a bit easier to collect some. As mentioned before, you cannot normally break the Seagrass to obtain it – if you do try, the Seagrass disintegrates. You need to have Shears to collect Seagrass properly.
Shears are tools that are used to collect mostly organic blocks that disintegrate when normally broken. Crafting one is quite easy, as you only need two iron bars. With two iron bars in your inventory, open up the Crafting Table. In the 3×3 grid, place one bar right in the middle and another on the bottom left corner. Doing so will get you one Shears.
Locate an Ocean biome and swim downwards. You can double-tap your forward button to swim faster. After reaching a Seagrass stalk, use your Shears on it to break it successfully. If you break the lowermost section of the Seagrass, the entire thing breaks as well. The items start floating upwards, so you don’t have to worry about collecting them underwater.
