Invisibility spells are a part of the Illusion school of magic. These spells, like Deathly Visage and Ghostwalk, render the caster completely undetectable. Chameleon is another spell that can turn the user invisible. However, Chameleon only enhances Sneak while Invisibility provides perfect cover from detection, and the player cannot be spotted while it’s active. The effect wears off when its duration runs out or when the player attacks, talks, or opens a container.

Invisibility spells can be bought from several merchants throughout Cyrodiil. A reliable vendor selling all the Invisibility spells is Ita Rienus in the Bravil Mages Guild. The guild building is located to the south of the chapel. Speak to Ita and choose the “Purchasing Spells” option in the bottom left corner of the screen. To get the Invisibility effect, buy any of the following spells depending on your Illusion skill level:

  • Deathly Visage (Journeyman): Invisibility for 30 seconds.
  • Ghostwalk (Expert): Invisibility for 60 seconds.
  • Spectral Form (Master): Invisibility for 120 seconds.

While using spells is one way to attain invisibility, there are alternatives that you can try:

  • Invisibility Potion: An invisibility potion can be made by combining Wormwood Leaves (Apprentice) and Tinder Polypore Cap (Journeyman). The duration is determined by your Alchemy level. Further ingredient effects to make Invisibility potions are unlocked at the expert Alchemy level.
  • Shadow Birthsign: You can use the Moonshadow power once a day to turn invisible for 60 seconds.
  • Jone Stone Doomstone: Located north of Skingrad and east of the Shrine of Sanguine, the Jone Stone Doomstone can be activated to gain Invisibility, Fortify Athletics (30 pts), Fortify Sneak (30 pts), and Fortify Acrobatics 30 pts for 120 seconds.
  • Embrace of Shadows: When Vampirism reaches 100%, the Embrace of Shadows ability is unlocked. The Greater Power provides 180 seconds of Invisibility once a day alongside 90 seconds of Night Eye.
  • Chameleon: While the Chameleon effect is not perfect like Invisibility, it does not disappear when the player takes an action. Therefore, you can continue to attack enemies while still under the Chameleon effect. Unlike invisibility, Chameleon can also be applied as an enchantment to your armor to act as a permanent buff. Achieving 100% Chameleon makes the functionally invisible without any of the limitations of the Invisibility effect.
