Everything you need to know about Tempered Mizutsune in Monster Hunter Wilds, including how to get the monster’s Investigation quest and more.

Tempered Mizutsune is arguably one of the most challenging monsters to fight in Monster Hunter Wilds. However, before you can clash your blade against the monster, you will need to find it, which can be tricky. Unlike other monsters, Tempered Mizutsune’s appearance is quite rare.
Furthermore, the monster also does not appear in the Wounded Hollow, which makes it even more trickier to hunt. Unlike most monsters that can appear in multiple different regions, Tempered Mizutsune is relegated to the Scarlet Forest. Despite not being an Apex Monster, Mizutsune acts like. However, there are ways to force the monster to appear in the Scarlet Forest consistently.
Here’s a comprehensive guide on Tempered Mizutsune in Monster Hunter Wilds and how to get the monster’s Investigation quest.
How To Unlock Tempered Mizutsune in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Tempered Mizutsune appears in the Scarlet Forest randomly, mostly during Inclemency. However, there are a few requirements you need to meet before the monster in the overworld. Primarily, you first need to complete the Spirit in the Moonlight Side Quest, which introduces you to Mizutsune. Once you defeat Mizutsune, its Tempered variant will randomly show up, exclusively in the Scarlet Forest region.
Furthermore, before you can take on Mizutsune, you need to reach Hunter Rank (HR) 24. While Mizutsune can be fought at HR 24, we recommend doing so at 40, after finishing the High Rank campaign. That way, you’ll have more options available to you in terms of gear.
Furthermore, although Mizutsune unlocks at HR 24, Tempered Mizutsune only appears in the overworld after you reach HR 40 and complete the High Rank campaign. Once you meet these aforementioned requirements, you can encounter Tempered Mizutsune in the Scarlet Forest. Much like other Tempered monsters, Mizutsune has three different Tempered variants, based on strength – 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star.
How To Get the Tempered Mizutsune Investigation?

Like any other Investigation in Monster Hunter Wilds, there isn’t a specific rule to getting the Tempered Mizutsune Investigation. However, during our testing of the update, we found a few conditions that triggered the monster’s appearance quite often. Although Tempered Mizutsune can appear under any of the weather and time conditions, we found that Plenty and Inclemency give the most consistent results.
Also, Daytime seems to be the most reliable time to spawn Tempered Mizutsune. Essentially, you need to rest at the Base Camp in Scarlet Forest and change the time and weather to – Inclemency-Daytime or Plenty-Daytime.
Repeat this process a few times and you should see a Tempered Mizutsune appearing in the map. We highly recommend completing the Investigation at least once and saving it to farm later. Much like any other 8-star Tempered Investigation, hunting the Tempered Mizutsune rewards you with not only the monster’s parts but also Rarity 8 Artian Parts.
Additional Notes
Another good way to farm Tempered Mizutsune is the SOS Hunts. However, in order to partake in SOS requests, you will need to engage with the game’s multiplayer systems, and on consoles, you will need either PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscription.
