The Eye of Ender is a late-game item in Minecraft that can lead you to the stronghold and activate the portal to the End. The item can be used as a homing beacon that leads you to the realm of the Ender Dragon, the final boss of Minecraft. However, crafting it requires two valuable items, and using it can be complex.
Ingredients Needed To Craft Eye of Ender in Minecraft
To craft an Eye of Ender, you will need to collect Ender Pearls and Blaze Powder. Endermen drop Ender Pearls when killed. There is a 50% chance of an Enderman dropping an Ender Pearl when it dies. The chance can be increased by using a weapon with the looting enchantment.
Putting a Blaze Rod in a crafting table creates two Blaze Powder. To collect Blaze Rods, you must go into the Netherand find a Nether Fortress. There are usually two Blaze Spawners in a Nether Fortress, which you can use to farm Blaze Rods efficiently.
Crafting Eye of Ender
Once you have both an Ender Pearl and Blaze Powder, head over to the crafting table or open your inventory to access the crafting grid. Place the Ender Pearl in the grid and the Blaze Powder beside it to create an Eye of Ender. If you plan to travel to the stronghold and unlock the End, you will need to craft at least 13 Eyes of Ender.
How To Use Eye of Ender in Minecraft
Once you have crafted the required number of Eyes of Ender, head outside, preferably during the day and with a map. Press right-click (use button) while holding the Eye of Ender, and it will fly away in a specific direction. After traveling about 12 blocks and rising a little higher, the Eye of Ender either falls as a collectible item or shatters and gets destroyed. Its chance of surviving is 80%.
Therefore, you will want to use the Eye of Ender as little as possible and begin traveling in the direction it points. After a while, use it again. If its flight direction has changed, you are close to a stronghold. When you use the Eye of Ender, and it disappears into the ground, the stronghold and its portal are directly underneath.
Start digging down to reach the stronghold and find the End Portal. At the End Portal, place an Eye of Ender in each of the 12 End Portal Frameblocks to activate it. A starry black portal will appear, which will transport you to the End when you enter it.
