Defeat Entarus The Rekindled and use the champion’s essence to open the Gate of Faded Glories in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
While you explore the lands of Thedas, your path will often get blocked by some blighted roots. The Gate series of quests focuses on these paths. During these quests, you need to hunt the champions and collect their essence to unlock those gates. Using the champion’s essence on specific roots unlocks your way.
One such quest is the ‘ Gate of Faded Glories’, which follows the same mechanism. Let’s dive into the guide to know where you can find the champion and how to defeat them to open the Gate of Faded Glories in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Gate of Faded Glories Champion Location
The Gate of Faded Glories quest takes place in Elvhenan’s Haven, which is located in the northeastern part of Arlathan Forest. However, you need to complete Davrin’s companion quest ‘How To Train A Griffon’ to unlock this area of the Arlathan Forest. Follow your way along the Waterfront Glades to reach the Tainted Woods. Make your way to the building, where you will find several blights and Darkspawn. Take note that these Darkspawn are linked to your level.
You will also find the Blight Cyst in the building, which is our target to summon the champion. Since destroying the Cyst will release the champion, don’t engage with the Cyst before clearing the surrounding enemies. Once you have taken care of all the Darkspwan and the blight spots, break the large Blight Cyst to face the champion, Entarus The Rekindled.

How To Defeat Entarus the Rekindled – Gate of Faded Glories Champion?
Entarus the Rekindled is a level 25 champion who is vulnerable to Fire and resistant to Necrotic. The champion is covered by a Blight Armor, so first you need to destroy it.
Some of the attacks of Entarus The Rekindled you need to be aware of:
- Entarus deals damage by slamming the mace to the ground. The champion will also perform several unblockable moves that are indicated with red.
- The champion will often charge towards you and deal heavy damage.
- Another key mechanism you need to be aware of during the battle is the blue lights above the champion’s head. These lights recharge over time, and the champion will shoot a projectile once it reaches five.
Avoid or dodge the incoming projectiles, or if there are any red indicators that appear on the ground or the champion. Since the champion is vulnerable to Fire and resistant to Necrotic, avoid using Necrotic attacks and try to deal consistent damage with fire attacks. Set up the build for Rook and your party, focusing on fire attacks. Adding fire companions to the party, such as Taash and Davrin, makes the battle easy.
What To Do With The Champion’s Essence?
Once defeated, the Entarus The Rekindled will drop the champion’s essence. In addition, you will also get some Gold, Etheric Remnants, and Faction Strength points. Grab the essence and head to Elvhenan’s Haven in Crossroads. Use the essence on the root to open the Gate of Faded Glories and complete the quest.
