How To Play Multiplayer in Vindictus Defying Fate

Vindictus Defying Fate offers limited multiplayer in its alpha demo, including co-op boss missions and a social mode in the village.

Vindictus Defying Fate transports you into a stunning fantasy world where you embark on adventures on behalf of the Kalbram Mercenaries, battle challenging bosses, and progress your character. The game offers the choice to recruit followers to join you during missions. These NPCs are helpful if you’re struggling with certain missions, and they even gain experience.

Followers give a glimpse of how fun the game would be with a human partner. The immersive campaign and challenging boss battles of Defying Fate seem perfect to experience alongside a co-op player. While multiplayer is possible in the demo, it is very limited.

Vindictus Defying Fate: How To Play Co-Op

There are two main ways to experience co-op in the Vindictus Defying Fate alpha demo. The first is to hang out with other players in the hub village of Colhen by having certain settings enabled. The second is to join up to four other players on Special Missions to take down powerful bosses.

To see other players in the hub village, you will need to progress the main story through Chapter 1, Episode 1. Then, use the following steps to enable multiplayer in the village:

  • Open Settings > Account > Display Players in Village.
  • Turn on the “Display Players in Village” setting.

After the feature is turned on, you can see and interact with other players in the Village. However, the players appearing will be random, and sometimes no one may appear at all. This multiplayer feature experiences occasional bugs. These bugs should be rectified when the full game releases.

Special Missions

After you have completed Chapter 1, Episode 1, Special Missions become available. You can initiate matchmaking for Special Missions from the mission board in the village mercenary office, beside the map. Choose either the White Tyrant or Blood Lord and then select Party Mode. Once four players have joined, the mission will begin. Here are some details about Special Missions:

  • Special Missions last 30 minutes and have two difficulty modes, one for single-player and another for four-player.
    • If players drop out during the four-player special mission, the difficulty will not be lowered.
  • Each player has two revives in the bank, which heal them to full health.
    • Downed players auto-revive after some time has passed, but can be revived faster with the help of another player.
  • The Special Mission ends when the target boss is eliminated.

The Vindictus: Defying Fate demo does not currently support inviting friends to co-op sessions or playing campaign missions with them. These features will hopefully be available in the full game upon release.
