Stench is an abnormal status ailment where your hunter cannot use any items to recover health or stamina in Monster Hunter Wilds. There is only one monster who can apply this on you, and that is Congalala.

As a part of Congalala’s moveset, this large monster will fart on you. If you fail to dodge this, you are afflicted with the Stench condition, and you will then have to remove it. Unless you are very low on health, this condition is not very serious. However, if you are undertaking a quest with two monsters where one of them is Congalala, Stench can potentially spell disaster if you are not careful.

As such, if you are going to partake in a hunt that involves Congalala, the best course of action is to always carry at least five Deodorant to stay on the safer side.
