Learn how to save time and queue again with the help of the Surrender feature in Marvel Rivals ranked Competitive matches.

Marvel Rivals has had the “Surrender” feature in the game since Season 0. It allows an entire team to leave a match without serving a penalty to their ranked points or getting banned from matchmaking. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t direct you to the Surrender button in the face of adversity, and you are left to figure it out on your own. If you have been in this situation and are wondering how to initiate a Surrender, we have you covered with a quick guide.
Surrendering a Match in Marvel Rivals

The Surrender button is only available in Competitive Mode. Players playing any other mode will only have the option to Leave Match. If they leave during a match, they will be marked as a deserter. Moreover, they will not be able to claim any achievements in progress from that match. You can disconnect from a Competitive match due to an unstable connection by closing the application or shutting down your system, but Surrendering is a much safer option.
Players who are already in a ranked game and wish to Surrender can do so by accessing the Pause Menu. This is by pressing the Options button on a controller or the Esc key on the keyboard. Now, instead of Leave Match, you will see a new option saying Surrender. Clicking on it will initiate a Surrender. It will pop up on the right side of the screen for everyone, showing you how many people are agreeing with the approach.
Blue silhouette means those many teammates have agreed to Surrender, while red means they declined the Surrender request. A white/gray silhouette means they haven’t yet responded. To successfully Surrender, all teammates available in the match from the Surrendering team need to vote Yes.
As far as we have experimented, you cannot initiate a Surrender more than once in the same match for some time. So, while waiting, other teammates can do it for you. Whenever somebody initiates a Surrender in Marvel Rivals, it will show up on the right side of the screen. Players with keyboards can simply press F5/F6 to vote Yes/No, respectively. Players with controllers, however, must hold the Options button and then press Square/X for Yes or Circle/B for No.
Catch With the Surrender Feature in Marvel Rivals

The Surrender feature is always there in a Competitive match. However, players can’t initiate a Surrender in the first round. Moreover, they can’t do so in non-combat phases either. So, you will have to play through the first round and wait until both spawn gates are open in the second round.
You might think that surrendering will result in fewer points lost compared to losing a match, right? That’s not true at all. Unfortunately, you will lose the same number of points. Along with other competitive changes in Season 2, the point reduction and gain have also changed.
So, if you play well through the entire game, you actually might lose fewer points. So, Surrendering has become very situational. We suggest that you initiate a Surrender if the enemy team is absolutely crushing you, or your team is not good. After Surrendering, you can queue again and hope for a better team or less intense enemies.
