One of the locations in Dragon Age: The Veilguard that you can’t access through open-world exploration is the Sharksmouth Caves. Originally called The Caves of Sharksmouth, these are located on the Rivain Coast but kept hidden from the naked eye.

This will most likely be one of the last locations that you unlock in the game because of how much of a secret it is. Keep an eye on Taash’s storyline in your playthrough because they will give you the quest Lair of the Dragon King to unlock this location.

In Act 2, there is a main quest called Fire and Ice, which requires you to fight two dragons; you can guess their elemental advantages. It is after completing this main quest that Taash will come in handy in discovering the secret location in question. Speak to Taash in the Lighthouse after this quest and there will be a couple of new dragon hunts in her sight. You will get to unlock Slaying the Fangscorcher first before Kataranda The Stormrider also opens up.

Once these side quests are completed, talk to Taash once more and they will give you The Lair of the Dragon King quest, at last. This quest will take you to the desired location. If you don’t see any of the dragon-hunting quests that we mentioned above, you can try developing a stronger bond with Taash by taking them on quests. You can also find their gift in the Hall of Valor if none of this is working.

At least one of these attempts will give you access to the Taash quest we mentioned earlier. The Sharksmouth Caves are also home to the side quest The Treasure of Sharksmouth Mountain which contains great loot. So, you will be hitting two quests with one stone by completing Taash’s storyline.

If this cave happens to be the last location that you unlock on your map, the game will surprise you with the Across The Imperial Highway Trophy/Achievement.
