The world of Dune Awakening may not have a Paul Atreides, but it does have you as its manifestation of destiny. The game allows you to create your own character to experience this alternate reality version of Arrakis, and then lets you shape its destiny over the course of the game.
Dune Awakening not only makes you feel special through its narrative, but it also does so through its skills and abilities. The game offers you several powerful abilities to pick from. Some of these abilities allow you to make exploration easier, while others are more catered towards combat. While the options are limitless, your skill slots are not.
The game gives you two slots to begin with, with a third slot unlocked. You get no hints on how to unlock the third slot, leaving you confused. You may think that this is a bug, and that the slot should be unlocked, but that is not the case. To unlock the third skill slot, you have to follow a series of steps and complete a quest. As stated earlier, your third (middle) skill slot will be locked in Dune Awakening. This will limit you from realizing your build’s full potential. In order to unlock the third skill slot, you need to complete the Finish the Fourth Trial of Aql quest in the game.
The Fourth Trial of Aql quest is one of the main quests in the game, and sees you searching for the missing Fremen in this timeline. To find the fourth trial, you need to head over to the East Vermillius Gap region in the game. Here, you will find The Hollow Hammer. This is a cliff with its peak shaped like a hammer.
Scale up the mountain from the southern side, and you’ll eventually run into a set of ruins. Follow the telegraphed path, and you’ll run into the altar with Spice. Interact with it to initiate the trial, and run through the dream sequence to complete it. You will then unlock the third skill slot.
