In this Indiana Jones and the Great Circle guide, we shall go over the Sacred Wounds puzzle and how to solve it.
Indiana Jones has always been an adventurer at heart first and a professor second, but the famed archaeologist has always distinguished himself from his contemporaries through the use of brains over brawn. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle realizes this aspect of his character by routinely throwing puzzles at you. As Indy’s search for the stolen Cat Mummy brings him to the Vatican, he comes across a strange labyrinth with a depiction of Jesus, thus kicking off the Sacred Wounds puzzle.
The Sacred Wounds puzzle often proves to be a roadblock for players, but don’t worry as we have you covered with this guide. In this Indiana Jones and the Great Circle guide, we shall go over the Sacred Wounds puzzle and how to solve it.
How To Solve the Sacred Wounds Puzzle
You start the Sacred Wounds puzzle by pouring some wine into the basin in front of the large Jesus mural in the chamber. Doing so will unveil secret handles on the mural itself that you can interact with. Above each of these handles is a set of Roman numerals from one to five. Each of these handles is also placed adjacent to the limbs of Jesus.
Around the chamber, several other smaller murals of Jesus depict important events from his life. Each of these murals also focuses on certain limbs of Jesus. To solve this puzzle, we have to identify the limb in each of the murals and then interact with the corresponding handle on the central mural.
The Five Murals in the Sacred Wounds Puzzle
There are two murals on either side of the central mural. Head to the one on the left and remove the broken statue resting on the basin in front of it. In this image, Jesus is holding a glass of wine in his left hand. Pour wine into the basin, and a chemical reaction will reveal the Roman numeral II to you. Now, the mural on the right depicts the image of Jesus walking on water. The image focuses on his right foot. Pour wine into the basin in front of the mural, and a chemical reaction will reveal the number III to you.
Next, head right from the central mural towards the locked gate. Pass through the small gap adjacent to the gate to enter the next chamber. Head inside and pull the chain to unlock the gate. Now, you will find a mural of Jesus having his feet anointed in this chamber. The image focuses on his left foot. Pour wine into the basin to unveil the number IV.
Now, head to the chamber on the opposite end. Here, you will find an image of Jesus holding some food in his right hand. Pour wine into the basin to unveil the Roman numeral II. You will then be locked into the room.
From here, follow the path on the left to reach the final mural. This mural points to a spear, which corresponds to Jesus’ chest and where he was stabbed. Pour wine into the basin to unveil the number III. Then, use the hammer to break open the wall with gaps in it to open a path back to the main chamber.
The Sacred Wounds Puzzle Solution
The limbs correspond to the numbers in the following manner:
- Chest – III
- Left hand – II
- Right hand – II
- Left foot – IV
- Right foot – III
Use the handles next to the corresponding limbs and assign them their respective numbers to complete the Sacred Wounds puzzle and progress ahead.
