Dynasty Warriors Origins will not be on PS4 and Xbox One, instead released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Dynasty Warriors Origins is the latest entry in the popular Dynasty Warriors series, and fans can’t wait to get their hands on it. The series is best known for throwing players into historical settings, letting them fight their way through hordes of enemies as part of epic large-scale battles. With Dynasty Warriors Origins bringing tweaks and fixes to freshen up the formula, the hype is greater than ever.
With just a few weeks away from the anticipated title’s release, preorders are raking in on the PS5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC. However, fans of last-gen consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One, may be left feeling a little deflated. Dynasty Warriors Origins is not coming to PS4 and Xbox One, and the publishers have given no indication that it will in the future.
What’s New in Dynasty Warriors Origins
New Face, Familiar Lands
Dynasty Warriors Origins once again brings you to the gorgeous lands of 10th Century China, this time in the era of the Later Han Dynasty. You find yourself in the shoes of a nameless character, awakening from a slumber with no memories of their past due to amnesia. This is a stark departure from the previous games, where you were given the freedom to create and customize your own character. Despite the mixed reception to the change, we’re eager to see what role this mysterious new character plays in the game’s story.
Tactical Battles
With the nameless protagonist seeking to etch their name in history, your playstyle decides the course of battle, and ultimately, the protagonist’s destiny. You can lead the charge as a soldier or take a backseat and run down the strategy as a general. Before each battle begins, you enter a war room to plan and strategize. Here, you can view all the forces in battle and use them as you please.
The war room gives you a glimpse at the ‘Morale’ and ‘Courage’ of both the allies and enemies. These factors determine the performance of both forces in battle. The ‘Morale’ changes through the course of the battle as per your performance. ‘Courage’ is a difficulty indicator of how formidable the enemies will be in battle.
If the variables in battle are too much to think of, you can simply ignore them. Dynasty Warriors Origins lets you run straight into the heart of battle as a one-man army. But do so at your own peril and only if you’re “confident in your skills,” as per the devs.
