A lot of players are wondering whether GTA 5 Online Enhanced supports crossplay. The new update was released back on March 4, 2025, adding a ton of new features and content for players to explore. This includes enhanced graphics with Ray Tracing, performance improvements with faster loading times, and content that used to be exclusive to only console players. On top of that, this massive upgrade is free for everyone who owns the original, which will now be known as the Legacy version.

Considering how cross-play is a common practice in most recent games, a lot of players are curious if GTA 5 Online Enhanced also has this feature. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games made it clear that the game will not support crossplay. This means both Legacy and the Enhanced will have a separate server despite being on the same platform. This also applies to console players.

According to Rockstar Games, to maintain the support of GTA 5 Online Enhanced, it will not support crossplay. This includes crossplay between Enhanced and Legacy versions, despite being on the same PC platform.

On top of that, the game also doesn’t have crossplay between PC and console players. This has been the norm since then, even for the Legacy version. This means you still won’t be able to play with players from other platforms.

Will Crossplay Be Available in GTA 5 Online Enhanced in the Future?

It’s difficult to say for sure as Rockstar Games has already made it clear that GTA 5 Online Enhanced and Legacy won’t have crossplay. There are also a lot of things to consider when adding a crossplay feature to a game. One example is possibly compatibility issues that might arise.

Rockstar Games would need to ensure compatibility between different hardware. This can be challenging, especially considering the game’s age and multiple editions. It could take a lot of manpower and time to execute and continuously maintain. Needless to say, we might not be seeing a crossplay feature for GTA 5 Online Enhanced anytime soon.

What Is Crossplay?

Crossplay, also known as cross-platform play, enable players on different gaming platforms to play together. This includes PCs and consoles like PlayStation and Xbox. This feature is great for connecting groups of friends regardless of their preferred gaming system.

However, not all games support crossplay, often due to technical limitations, concerns about balancing, or platform-specific restrictions. Unfortunately, GTA 5 is one such game.
