The Hammer and Tongs mission is a side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, set in Grund, located north of the Kuttenberg Region. Once you arrive there, you will find Zdimir, a blacksmith. Interact with him to trigger a cutscene where he will show off his apprentice Matthias’s skills.
Henry, himself a son of a blacksmith, will share his extensive experience of blacksmithing. The conversation will soon shift towards a healthy bet where Henry will have to defeat Matthias in a blacksmithing competition. The objective of the missions is simple:
- Forge a competition sword of high quality.
- Show the sword to Zdimir to complete the quest.
Forging the Competition Sword
To forge the competition sword, interact with the anvil to start blacksmithing. Here is a detailed process:
- Start by heating the sword’s material till it turns red hot.
- Afterwards, move it to the anvil.
- Beat the workpiece evenly on both sides with a hammer to give it a perfect shape.
- Repeat this process till the sword is ready.
Completing the Hammer and Tongs Side Quest
Once you take the sword to Zdimir, he will compare your sword with Matthias’s sword. To your surprise, Zdimir will announce you as a winner. Afterwards, you can claim your bet prize and receive 200 Groschen. A dialogue will start where Matthias will provoke you into a fight.
You have the option to pass a dialogue check. However, if you want Mathias’s sword, challenge him to a fight. After defeating Matthias, he will hand over his sword to you. This will wrap up your Hammer and Tongs side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
