“The King’s Gambit” is the nineteenth main quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. In the quest, Henry goes undercover at King Sigismund’s court to spy on him. Players will have to disguise themselves as a waiter and serve wine to various people. First, you must remember that this quest must be completed within a limited time, so start it as soon as possible.

Additionally, players must dress like a waiter and earn the Royal Waiter Certificate for the mission. In this guide, we will go into more detail regarding “The King’s Gambit” quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

How To Complete The King’s Gambit Quest In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The first thing you will need to do in this quest is speak to Vavak and convince him to allow you into the Royal Court. He is the mint minister. We already have evidence of Vavak’s theft of silver, so it should not be too hard to get his approval. Head to the marker shown above to find Vavak in Kuttenberg. Vavak will then tell you that the best way to infiltrate Sigismund’s court is to disguise yourself as a Royal Waiter.

The cook’s son will be the Royal Waiter at the time of this quest, so we must devise a plan and take his place. Remember that just taking his place won’t suffice—you will also have to dress accordingly to look the part. Now that we have an idea of how to get into the Royal Court, we must find the cook’s son. His name is Franta Kuldaun. He will be north of the market, and you can easily find him by following his marker on your map.

When you tell Franta that you want to be the Royal Waiter, he naturally won’t approve, so we must find a way to persuade him. In this scenario, you can simply speak to Franta and convince him with the skill checks, or you can just bribe him with 1,000 Groschen. Once he is convinced, he will give you the Royal Waiter Certificate and tell you what attire you will need for the court.

Franta has a special attire made only for the Royal Court. In order to get your hands on it, you will have to speak to the male tailor in the market. Ask him about the attire made for Franta, and he will give you the following:

  • Royal Waiter’s Hat
  • Royal Waiter’s Coat
  • The Hose of a Royal Waiter

Note that out of the two tailors in the market, the one on the north side will have the attire you need. Now, put on the clothes from your inventory and unequip any armor you have. Once you are fully dressed, go to the marked location on your map and speak to the man sitting behind the desk. We recommend that you pick the “I’m ready to learn” line so you can learn all the ways to be a good waiter. If you do not perform your duties well, the mission will be over.

Serve Wine to the Noblemen

When you are ready, simply select “I know what I need” to progress through the story. Now, you will have to serve the people in the court. It is not difficult at all, so you do not need to worry. However, if you get confused, follow the instructions below:

  • You will be able to find wine on a table in the corner
  • When someone asks for wine, you should serve it with utmost urgency
  • Make sure you pick the right colored wine, Red or White.
  • Do not give wine to Adam of Zarzits

Stick to these instructions, and you will be fine. Additionally, some members of the court will ask you to fetch items from the back room—simply obey them, and you won’t fail the objective. After a few minutes, a cutscene will trigger. When it is over, Bailiff Andreas Plumel will ask you to bring his goblet. Take the stairs in the corner that lead to an office, then bring the cup from the table to the Bailiff.

Next, Franz Rosenthal will call you and ask you to find his gloves. Go to the room near the wine pitchers, where the white gloves will be on the lectern. Take them and bring them to Rosenthal. If he asks how many winged creatures were on the murals, you can answer whatever you wish because he does not know the right answer. Sigismund will appear during a cutscene after some time, and then you will continue playing as Father Godwin in Raborsch.

Make New Allies

Your main task as Father Godwin will be to convince three people to become your allies. Lady Anna Waldstein, Haman Alder, and Sir Botschek will be marked on your map, so you won’t have any problem finding them. However, it is not as easy as it looks. All three of them will ask you to do the following before they join your alliance:

  • Haman Alder: He will ask you to defeat Godwin’s brother in a duel.
  • Lady Anna Waldstein: You will have to give her some documents from the shed in the courtyard.
  • Sir Botschek: You will have to promise Sir Botschek that Hans will marry his niece to win his favor.

Out of the three objectives, you might have trouble with Anna Waldstein’s documents. A man will stand guard at the shed. Just ask him if he wants to play a game of dice, and he will move away from the shed to join the dice table—quite simple. When he is gone, go inside the shed and swap the documents. Once all three objectives are complete, speak to Liechtenstein and tell him that you have gained three new allies.

Now, Jobst announces that they have an army during a cutscene, and then the perspective switches back to Henry. Your only objective left as Henry is to serve wine to King Sigismund himself whenever he asks for it. Shortly after, a cutscene will begin, marking the end of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 “The King’s Gambit” quest.
