Learn about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC optimization, including the best settings to use for optimal performance and visuals.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has finally made its debut on PC. Developed by Nixxes Software, the PC port, as usual, is quite well-optimized, with plenty of options for players to tweak. Much like the previous Marvel’s Spider-Man titles on PC, the newly released sequel is a spectacle to behold, even with the game’s regular baked-in lighting solution. However, the game truly shines once you enable the ray tracing features. Surprisingly enough, Spider-Man 2 is the first game from PlayStation to ship with support for DLSS Ray Reconstruction. Although the PC port is quite well-optimized akin to Nixxes’ previous PC offerings, it certainly isn’t without its fair share of issues.
Much like the past Spider-Man games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is very CPU and VRAM-dependent. To get the game running well on a mid-range PC, you will have to make some changes to the game’s preset graphics settings. Here’s a comprehensive PC optimization guide for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including the best settings for optimal performance.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 System Requirements
Here are the minimum and recommended PC system requirements for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2:
Minimum
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10/11 (version 1909 or higher)
- Processor: Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT
- Storage: 140 GB
Recommended
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10/11 (version 1909 or higher)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700
- Storage: 140 GB
It should be noted that the minimum specifications target 720p at 30fps with Low settings. Whereas the recommended specifications target 1080p at 60fps with Medium settings. Both specifications are without ray tracing. However, if you want to enable ray tracing, you will need at least an RTX 4070 or better GPU.
Best Settings for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, even without ray tracing, is quite demanding on VRAM. Although the game’s minimum specifications suggest the game is playable on a 4 GB VRAM GPU, it’s for a 720p30fps target. That means if you want to play at anything above 720p, i.e., 1080p, 1440p, or 4K, you will need more VRAM. In many ways, Spider-Man 2 is quite similar to God of War Ragnarok’s PC port. VRAM was one of the major bottlenecks in that game as well. However, if you have a modern GPU with at least 8 GB VRAM, you should be able to play the game without much hassle. The settings that impact performance the most are — Texture Quality, Shadow Quality, SSR, and Volumetrics.
At 1080p and Medium preset, the game uses roughly 6 GB of VRAM, without any upscaling. At 1440p however, the game nearly maxes out 8 GB GPUs, often spilling onto system memory. As such, if you plan to play at 1440p, make sure you have at least 16 GB of RAM, if not more. That said, here are the best settings to use in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC:
Settings | Low | Recommended | Ultra |

Texture Quality | Low/Medium | High | Very High |

Crowd Density | Low | High | Very High |
Hair Quality | Low | High | Very High |

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Ray Tracing
It should be noted that for Low and Recommended optimized settings, you should keep ray tracing disabled. For the Recommended preset, you can turn on ray tracing, but with DLSS/FSR enabled, and frame rate locked to 60fps. For the Ultra preset, you can enable ray tracing, granted you have enough GPU headroom to do so. Furthermore, it’s best to not enable RT Ray Reconstruction, unless you have an RTX 4080, RTX 4090, or higher.
