This article will discuss whether you can play the annual April Fools’ snapshot update called Craftmine in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Mojang Studios recently unveiled its annual April Fools’ joke update called the Craftmine. This update flips the very concept of the game. Instead of looking for mines to explore, you create the mines yourself. It’s a fun concept that stuck with players even after the April Fools festivities marked its end.
With several players gaining interest in this update, Minecraft Bedrock Edition players are wondering if they can also play the Craftmine update. Unfortunately, it’s only available for Java Edition players. This means you won’t be able to play the April Fools’ update if you only own Bedrock Edition.

Why Is Craftmine Not Available for Minecraft Bedrock Edition?

It’s a Java Edition Tradition
Minecraft April Fools’ updates are an old tradition, with the series starting at least in 2011. The first one was the “Locked Chest” update, in which a chest appeared in-game, but to access it, players had to buy a virtual key from an impostor website.
These prank updates have always been Java Edition only, pre-dating the existence of Bedrock Edition completely. Due to this, April Fools’ patches have always been more of a Java Edition convention than a feature implemented across all versions of Minecraft.
Java Edition is Possibly More Flexible
Another reason why Craftmine and other joke updates are Java Edition-exclusive is its versatility. Java Edition provides an easier means of adding experimental features, mods, and custom mechanics, making it the best platform for quick, one-time updates.
Mojang’s developers can easily add and reverse changes in Java Edition without the limitations found in Bedrock’s more structured framework. As Bedrock Edition is based on a distinct engine and has multigame support, applying joke updates may be much more complicated.
