The dangerous world of Minecraft has many unique and powerful mobs available for you to fight with. While the Warden takes the cake for being the hardest mob, the Wither, which you can deliberately spawn, is a death call.

The Wither takes a tremendous amount of grinding for it to become spawnable. Still, once it is defeated, you will receive one of the rarest items present in the game. Here’s a detailed guide on how to spawn the Wither in Minecraft and what item it drops.

The Wither is a flying and undead mob that is extremely destructive and vanishes into the wilds if you don’t stop it in time. You cannot find it naturally, so you will have to create this mob yourself. To spawn the wither, you will need four soul sand blocks and three wither skeleton skulls. Both of these items can be discovered in the Nether. While soul sand blocks can be found easily, obtaining the wither skeleton skulls is a hard process.

You will have to locate a nether fortress, which is guarded by the hardest mobs present in the game. Skeletons in the overworld are white, and in the Nether, they are black and can drop their skull once they’re killed if you’re lucky. Once you have the correct items for the Wither, you can now use them. Place the four soil sand blocks in a T shape, and place the three wither skeleton skulls on the top soil blocks.

If done correctly, you will have exactly ten seconds to escape from the area as the Wither’s health bar gradually fills up; it will explode once it is complete. Now, you can fight it. The Wither is arguably harder than the Ender Dragon, so make sure to have an armor set and a shield to protect yourself from its attacks. Additionally, you will need to fight it fast since it can run away from the initial location if you die.

Wither Rewards

The Wither drops a Nether Star and 50 experience points after it dies. You can use the Nether Star to create a beacon.
