While you can use farm animals in Minecraft for your survival, the game also introduced its players to tameable and friendly animals that can be domesticated if you follow the correct steps.

Ranging from Cats to Horses, all of them have their own benefits. Whether it’s to defend you from danger or help you to hunt other animals, these pets can come in handy. Here’s how you can tame animals in Minecraft and how to interact with them in multiple ways.

While all animals have different aspects to tame them, the usual process is to win their trust. Down below, you can find every tameable animal and how to befriend them:

Wolves

If you aren’t caught up with the game’s updates, Wolves have been added, and they can be tamed. To do so, you need to feed them bones in varying quantities. Keep feeding them until you see numerous hearts appear on their head and a collar on their neck.

Cats

Taming cats can be hectic. In order to tame them, you need to fish raw cod or salmon from nearby waters. After you locate a cat, crouch and approach them slowly, for they can run away in a flash. Feed them the fish until you see hearts on their head and a collar on their neck.

Horse, Donkey, and Mule

These animals don’t need a lot of work to tame them. Approach and give them either Sugar, Apple, Wheat, Golden Apple, Enchanted Golden Apple, or Golden Carrot. Additionally, ride them with a saddle to gain their trust further.

Llamas

You can gain their trust by riding them continuously.

Parrots

To tame a Parrot, feed them any seed you have in your hands. While it can feed on other things, refrain from giving it a cookie, as it’s poisonous for its health.

Dogs

Like Wolves, Dogs can be tamed by feeding them bones.

How To Interact With Pets?

To interact with your now-tamed pets, you can right-click on them to initiate an action. For most of the pets, they can either be ordered to follow you around or sit still until you tell them to move.
