Everything you need to know about the Nu Udra Tentacles in Monster Hunter Wilds, and how to obtain the rare monster part.

With Title Update 3, Capcom rejuvenated the enthusiasm among fans regarding Monster Hunter Wilds. The update not only added a new collaboration monster but also a host of additional rewards and QoL adjustments for the endgame. And now, with the Dreamspell festivities going on in the game, there’s even more reason for players to return to the game.
One of the biggest reasons for players to jump into MHW during Dreamspell is, well, Arch-tempered Nu Udra. Much like the past AT monsters, Nu Udra comes with its own Event Quest and a dedicated armor set. In fact, if you’re a Sword and Shield or Hammer main in Monster Hunter, you don’t want to miss out on AT Nu Udra’s set.
However, to craft the armor, you will need Nu Udra Tentacle. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to get Nu Udra Tentacle in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How To Obtain Nu Udra Tentacle in Monster Hunter Wilds

Technically, the Nu Udra Tentacle (Tentacle+) should drop as a reward for severing the monster’s tentacles. In base Monster Hunter Wilds, before Title Update 3, it used to be a guaranteed drop for carving a severed Nu Udra arm. However, with TU3, Capcom has slightly balanced the monster part drop rates. As such, the Nu Udra Tentacles are now almost as rare as the Rathalos Rubies.
The Nu Udra Tentacle has a 60% drop chance from carving a severed tentacle. As for quest reward drops, the monster part has just a 10% chance to appear upon quest completion. As such, your best bet to get the Nu Udra Tentacles is to cut the monster’s tentacles and carve them. However, doing so isn’t easy when faced against Tempered or even regular HR Nu Udra.
How To Sever Nu Udra’s Tentacles

Since we want to sever Nu Udra’s tentacles, not break them, our go-to options for the task are sharp weapons. Unfortunately, weapons like the Hammer, Bowguns, Bows, or even the Hunting Horn, aren’t going to help with the task. The best options to sever monster parts (tentacles and tails) are Great Sword, Long Sword, and Dual Blades.
Now, to sever Nu Udra’s tentacles, you need to create ample wounds on the monster’s arms. There are multiple ways to create wounds, but the most effective method is to use Focus Strike. Furthermore, make sure to target one limb at a time. This will make it easier to keep track of the carvings, even if the monster decides to leave an area.
Additional Notes
Technically, Tempered and Arch-tempered Nu Udra have a higher chance of dropping rare parts. However, if you’re having trouble with the Tempered variants, you can simply farm the regular High Rank Nu Udra for the parts. Additionally, the Lucky Meal bonus from the Kunafa Meal (at Grand Hub) can help get rare monster parts easily.
