Learn how to use SOS Flare in Monster Hunter Wilds with this detailed guide covering everything you need to know.

Monster Hunter Wilds features the SOS Flare, which allows you to call for assistance when you are in dire need, whether struggling to complete a quest or hunt down a ferocious monster. This SOS Flare is optional, so use it according to your needs.
Here is everything you should know about the SOS Flare in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to Use SOS Flare

During a quest, you can send an SOS Flare to other players via the menu or default shortcut. You will see the SOS Flare option in the Missions and Quest Menu. In addition to this, you can use the shortcut: hold the L1 key and press down the right analog stick. You can also customize the radial menu according to your ease.
After that, a confirmation will pop up, and your character will fire the SOS Flare into the sky. It is essential to fire your SOS Flare strategically, as you will temporarily lose control of your character.
Additionally, the game also offers an automatic SOS Flare option. To enable this, you have to turn on the automatic SOS Flare settings from the Quest Counter. Once activated, it will automatically fire the flare when you begin a quest.
How SOS Flare Works and the Role of Support Hunters

Once you fire the SOS Flare, a call for help will be sent to other players. The number of players that will join depends on the slot availability in your squad. Players can respond from any lobby, even if it is not yours.
If you fire an SOS Flare for help and there is a delay in responses from other players, Support Hunters will join you. However, this is only possible if you have changed the multiplayer settings to Players & Support Hunters.
Support Hunters are AI-backed companions designed to assist you during the quests and combats. They will automatically leave once the quest is over. Moreover, if a player responds to your SOS flare, the Support Hunter will give up this spot to allow him to join. You can also rely on Support Hunters in offline and single-player online modes.
You can cancel the SOS Flare anytime by selecting the option in the menu.
