Event Quests are easily one of the best aspects of Monster Hunter Wilds’s post-launch roadmap, only seconded by the new Title Update monsters, obviously. Although most of these Event Quests are fairly simple and reward you handsomely for your efforts, some of them can be quite grueling. One of the newly added Event Quests is Hungry for Ore?, which is arguably one of the most frustrating Event Quests thus far. However, completing Hungry for Ore is also necessary to get an exclusive reward, which Sword and Shield and Long Sword mains won’t want to miss out on.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Hungry for Ore Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, and its rewards.

Requirement for Hungry For Ore Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Hungry for Ore Event Quest unlocks at Hunter Rank (HR) 41. As such, before you can even start the quest, you need to have completed Low Rank and made significant progress in the High Rank campaign. Basically, you need to complete the High Rank campaign, i.e., slay Arkveld (Flying Wyvern), and get access to the endgame. This is when you’re boosted to HR 40 or higher. Once you’ve reached HR 41, you can access the Hungry for Ore quest from the Event Quests tab by talking to Alma. Additionally, you can also access the Event Quest from the Pop-up or base camps.

Here’s a rundown of Hungry for Ore’s requirements:

  • Difficulty: 8★
  • Locale: Wounded Hollow
  • Conditions: HR 41+
  • Quest Objective: Hunt 2 Tempered Gravios

The Hungry for Ore quest pits you against not one, but two Tempered Gravios. The regular Gravios is already a menace, particularly for builds that focus on raw damage. However, Tempered Gravios is on a whole other level of difficulty. Add to that the fact that you’ll face not one but two of them at the same time, make this one of the most challenging Event Quests.

Furthermore, the quest takes place in the Wounded Hollow, which further adds to the quest’s difficulty. However, you can make the quest significantly easier by investing in elemental damage. With the most recent update, even the heavier weapons like the Great Sword and the Hammer can dish out quite a lot of elemental damage.

Tips To Complete Hungry for Ore Event Quest

Here are some tips that will help you easily complete the Hungry for Ore Event Quest:

  • Gravios, especially the Tempered variant of the monster, is incredibly challenging, simply due to the amount of defense it has to begin with. However, you can break through the monster’s defenses with Dragon, Ice, or Water damage.
  • Ideally, you want to use Dragon against Gravios, since it has decent knockback and also procs fairly easily. However, you can also use Blastblight or even Paralysis to get a similar effect.
  • The best way to immobilize Gravios is to sever its tail and break its wings. However, to do so, you will need blunt weapons, such as a Hammer or a Hunting Horn.
  • If you’re using other weapons, target the tail and hind limbs of the monster. The area underneath the monster is breakable. Once you break Gravios’s belly, you will be able to use raw damage to stagger the monster.
  • We highly recommend making use of the barrier at the center of the Wounder Hollow to help separate the two Gravios. That way, you can focus on one of the monsters at a time.
  • Traps, Farcasters, and Barrel Bombs are a must for this Event Quest. Additionally, make sure your armor is upgraded for better survivability.
