Everything you need to know about the Hunter Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds, including the best methods to reach the maximum HR cap.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, once you hit the endgame, there’s not much to do besides the usual Tempered Monster farming and unlocking more Decorations for your build. However, there’s one other thing that does encourage players to grind their way through the endgame, i.e., the Hunter Rank.
The Hunter Rank is essentially the player level in Monster Hunter games. However, instead of signifying your overall power level, the Hunter Rank instead showcases the amount of progress you have made through the game. The Hunter Rank plays a pivotal role in the game’s main story as well. However, once you hit the endgame, the Hunter Rank is fully unlocked.
Unfortunately, as you progress through the Hunter Ranks, the rate at which you gain new levels slows down considerably. Thankfully, there are a few really efficient and easy ways to increase your Hunter Rank to its maximum cap. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to easily increase the Hunter Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds.
What Is the Hunter Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Hunter Rank essentially signifies the amount of progress you have made through the game’s campaign and subsequently, the endgame. It doesn’t necessarily mean your character is more powerful than those with lower Hunter Rank (HR). However, usually a higher HR does signify you have more experience with the game.
For instance, a player at HR 100 can be similar in terms of raw power and build efficiency compared to someone at HR 250. However, the player with HR 250 will definitely have more experience with the game, owing to the time he spent increasing his Hunter Rank. Currently, the Hunter Rank is limited to HR 999. In addition to that, there are specific rewards for hitting certain Hunter Rank milestones.
For instance, once you reach Hunter Rank 100, you unlock the trophy/achievement – Established Hunter – as well as new Hunter Profile items.
How To Increase the Hunter Rank?
Your Hunter Rank increases naturally as you progress through the Low and High Rank main story quests. At Hunter Rank 40, you get to finish the final main story quest. After that, the game fully unlocks the Hunter Rank, which you can increase up to HR 999.
In the endgame, completing anything, be it a Side Quest, Optional Quest, or Investigation, rewards you with Hunter Rank points. Getting enough points after a quest or a hunt increases your Hunter Rank. Although the main story and optional quests do boost your HR quite a lot, the best source of HR points are the Investigations. Furthermore, there are specific Investigations that massively boost Hunter Ranks in the endgame.
Best Methods To Increase the Hunter Rank

The best method to get Hunter Ranks in the endgame is completing Tempered Monster Investigations. You can easily reach HR 100-150 by simply sticking to the Tempered Monster Investigations. You won’t even need to hunt the Apex Monsters; simply do the Tempered Investigations as they appear in different regions and the Wounded Hollow, and you will easily hit the HR 100 threshold.
However, after HR 100, the amount of Hunter Rank points required to level up increases significantly. To help with this, you can tackle the “multiple monster” Investigations. These are special Investigations that randomly show up on the map and allow you to hunt two monsters in a single Investigation.
These hunts offer the highest amount of Hunter Rank points. We highly recommend doing multiple monster Investigations with at least one Tempered or Apex Monster. During our time with the game, we found Investigations that have Tempered Apex Monsters paired with another monster (regular or Tempered) offer the highest HR payout.
