The first set of Event quests for Monster Hunter Wilds is now live in-game, offering exclusive rewards and unlocks. The Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo Event quest is fairly straightforward as it requires players to hunt a High Rank Yian Kut-Ku in the Scarlet Forest. However, unlike the regular Yain Kut-Ku hunt (accessible via Optional Quests), the Event quest offers a significantly higher Zenny reward, as well as exclusive headgear, upon completion.

Much like in Monster Hunter World and Rise, the Event quests in Monster Hunter Wilds are a great way to not only farm monster parts but also Zenny. However, before you can complete the Event quests, you will need to be aware of their prerequisites.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo Event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, its prerequisites, rewards, and more.

Requirements for the Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

To start the Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo Event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, you first need to reach High Rank and complete the first HR quest. Furthermore, you also need to hit Hunter Rank 9, which shouldn’t be difficult since you enter High Rank at Hunter Rank 8. Once you’re HR 9, you can simply talk to Alma (the Handler) and select Event Quests to pull up the list of all available Events. The timer for the Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo quest is 50 minutes, i.e., the average quest time. The failure conditions are also the usual 3 Faints. Furthermore, the quest can be tackled in co-op with friends or random players online.

Much like the Event quests in previous titles, Monster Hunter Wilds’ events are also available for a limited time. The Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo Event quest will be available till March 18, 2025. After that, a new set of Event quests will arrive, with their own rewards. As such, it’s best to complete the Event quests as soon as they go live. That way, you’re securing the exclusive rewards, which you can craft later, even after the Event quests have cycled.

Tips To Easily Complete Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo Event Quest

The Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo is a fairly standard Yian Kut-Ku hunting quest. You can choose to either slay or capture the monster to complete the quest and reap the rewards. Yian Kut-Ku isn’t a particularly challenging monster. However, if you’re still using a Low Rank build, you might find the monster a tad bit difficult to deal with. The best way to tackle Yian Kut-Ku is with a High Rank set and weapon. If you’re in the early stages of High Rank, we recommend sitting the Event quests out for a bit and completing the High Rank main campaign. Doing so will open up the entire suite of build options for you to use in the Event quests.

However, if you want to complete the Event quest as soon as you hit High Rank, you can still do so. We highly recommend using weapons with the Paralysis Status Effect since it’s one of the major weaknesses of Yian Kut-Ku. You can easily farm High Rank Lala Barina to get the necessary parts for a good High Rank Paralysis weapon of your choice. Furthermore, it’s also highly recommended to craft the Hope set as soon as you reach HR. For the early sections of High Rank, the Hope set offers decent enough stats.

Additionally, it also comes with Divine Blessing skill, which will come in incredibly handy against Yian Kut-Ku. You can also summon the Support Hunters or other online players for the Event quest. However, do note that using the SOS feature to call other players for support will result in reduced Zenny payout upon quest completion.
