In Oblivion Remastered, various DLCs play an important role in extending the gameplay and story beyond the base game. Fortunately, every DLC from the original version is included for free in the Remastered edition, including the Knights of the Nine DLC.

The Knights of the Nine DLC revolves around a secretive faction tasked with guarding a set of Crusader Relics. You must search for these relics to defeat the sorcerer-king Umaril, who seeks revenge on the Nine Divines.

Unfortunately, the start of the DLC is a bit long and tedious, which can make it difficult for newer players to understand. In this guide, we explain how to start the Knights of the Nine DLC in Oblivion Remastered.

You can start the DLC immediately after completing the tutorial and exiting the sewers. One of the great things about Oblivion Remastered is that you can explore freely in any direction, as the entire world opens up right away. Once outside the Imperial City, head west to the port city of Anvil. In Anvil, you must talk to the Prophet to begin the expansion.

You will find the Prophet at the southeastern corner near the Gates of Anvil. He is preaching to civilians outside the Chapel of Dibella. Talk to him and select the following dialogue options to initiate the Knights of the Nine DLC in Oblivion Remastered:

  • Anvil Chapel attack
  • Just tell me who attacked the Chapel.
  • So how do we stop Umaril?
  • I will quest for the Relics.
  • No. I have no claim to fame.

By choosing the final option, you demonstrate humility to the Prophet, and he gives you the Pilgrimage quest. This is the first and most tedious quest in the Knights of the Nine DLC, requiring you to travel across the map and visit nine Wayshrines.

Although tedious, the Pilgrimage quest is necessary to properly start the DLC. This initial quest simply requires visiting multiple Wayshrines across the map, so it can be completed before pursuing any other major quests. The image above shows the map provided by the Prophet, which marks all the shrine locations you must visit. We recommend completing the Pilgrimage quest by fast-traveling to the closest areas near each shrine.
