Discover how to store items in Oblivion Remastered, from buying houses to finding locations with safe, permanent storage options.

From dark dungeons to regal estates, the world of Oblivion Remastered is filled to the brim with items to loot. However, carrying too much equipment can easily exceed your carry weight and lead to over-encumbrance, slowing your movement. The ideal solution is to sell excess items when possible and store the rest for future use.
Unfortunately, you do not start the game with a means to store goods. Fortunately, there are several solutions available, some require spending gold, while others are free. Let’s go over both options.
How To Store Items in Oblivion Remastered

The storage mechanics in Oblivion Remastered differ slightly from the original game. You can store items in any container you come across, but unless it’s in a house you own, the items will disappear after three days. Follow these steps to store items in any container:
- Open a storage container or chest
- Press the search button—RS for Controller, F for Keyboard.
- Press LB on the Controller to switch to your inventory
- On PC, hover your mouse over the left page to select items from the inventory.
- Select and store any items from your inventory in the container.
Buy a House

A straightforward way to have a safe space to store items is to buy a house and furnish it with storage. Houses can be purchased in nearly all the major cities of Cyrodiil. The smallest and cheapest house to buy in the game is the one in the Imperial City.
To purchase it, travel to the Office of Imperial Commerce and speak with Vinicia Melissaeia. Buy the house for 2,000 gold. If the cost is higher, play the persuasion minigame to raise her disposition to at least 50. Follow the “My Imperial City House” quest marker to speak to a local merchant and purchase the House Storage Area for 723 gold. This will add two dressers and a chest to the house, which you can use to store heavy equipment, alchemy ingredients, extra items, and more.
How To Get a House for Free in Oblivion Remastered

You can own several properties in Oblivion Remastered through quests and even by simply coming across them. Acquire the Battlehorn Castle, which you can acquire at the end of the Black Road. To do so, enter the castle, defeat all the enemies inside, and speak with the Battlehorn Man-At-Arms. This will award you with a deed to the castle.

Another free housing option, though far less glamorous, can be found in Deepscorn Hollow. Fast-travel to Leyawiin and head south along the coast until you reach the southernmost piece of land jutting out into Topal Bay. Cross the wooden bridge and dive into the water next to the half-submerged building. Swim into the tree trunk lying underwater, and enter Deepscorn Hollow. There will be a chest in the room to your right, which acts as permanent storage. Upgrade this “house” by speaking to Rowley Eardwulf at the Wawnet Inn.
