The ‘Sanguine’ quest in Oblivion Remastered is a whimsical mission given by the eponymous deity that sees you liven up a noble’s party by leaving everyone embarrassingly underdressed. The mission offers a break from typical dungeon crawling with a humorous twist, forcing you to employ quick thinking and flee from the law. This guide walks you through each step and ensures you claim your valuable reward: Sanguine Rose.
How To Complete Sanguine Quest in Oblivion Remastered
The Shrine of Sanguine is situated north-northwest of Skingrad, near Fort Dirich. To begin the quest, you must be at least level 8 and offer Cyrodilic Brandy at the Shrine of Sanguine. You can buy the drink from shops like the Gilded Carafe or the Main Ingredient in the Imperial City. After making the offering, Sanguine will task you with spicing up Countess Alessia’s party at Castle Leyawiin with a unique spell—Stark Reality. However, you will first have to infiltrate the exclusive event.
Dress for Success
Castle Leyawiin is located in the eastern part of the city of the same name in southern Cyrodiil. After entering the castle, proceed to the end of the County Hall and turn right to find the door to the party. The Countess Alessia’s party goes on between 6 pm and 8 pm. To gain entry, you will have to wear high-value clothes or armor. If you have graduated from the game’s starting gear, there is a good chance your current armor will be up to standard.
Upon reaching the door to the dinner party, a guard will stop you. Bribe or persuade the guard to raise his disposition above 70, and he will allow you to enter. Save your game at this point.
Cast Stark Reality
Once inside, use the Stark Reality spell on the dinner guests. The spell’s magic will strip them to their undergarments. The spell will have the same effect on you and cause all your equipment and gold to vanish. When the guards try to arrest you, resist arrest and flee. Weave through the oncoming guards and evade pursuit by exiting the castle and running to a safe distance.
Open your map to fast-travel to the Shrine of Sanguine. If fast travel is denied because of enemies, even if they aren’t close by, try entering a house and exiting it to fix the issue. Alternatively, you can go to jail, wait one day, and then travel to the shrine.
Reward
When you return to the Shrine of Sanguine, the deity is pleased with your performance. He rewards you with Sanguine Rose, a staff that summons a random Daedra to fight for you. All your equipment and items are stored in the chest before the shrine.
