After a tense wait for fans, Larian Studios has officially announced a release date for Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3!
Testing on Patch 8 has been going on since the beginning of the year. For those who haven’t been invited into the stress test, the wait for Patch 8 has seemed a long one. Thankfully, that appears to soon be at an end! Today, Larian Studios announced an official release date for Patch 8 on Baldur’s Gate 3. Additionally, there will also be an upcoming live stream, in a brand new studio. Let’s take a look at what the developers have in store.
Release Date for Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8
Larian Studios has officially announced the release of Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3, with the new Patch 8 set to go live on all platforms on April 15th, 2025. This final major content patch is bringing a host of exciting features to enhance your BG3 gaming experience. This update introduces cross-play functionality across all platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Windows, and Mac. Allowing players to connect seamlessly regardless of their chosen device.
Additionally, Patch 8 adds a comprehensive photo mode, offering various camera settings, post-processing effects, frames, and stickers to customize in-game photography. Players can also look forward to 12 new subclasses, one for each main class. Each offers unique abilities and playstyles, enriching the game’s depth and replayability.

Additionally, Larian has also announced that they will be hosting a Patch 8 Launch Stream on April 16th at 1 pm UTC. Here are the corresponding view times for the Launch Stream in additional time zones:

You can watch the Livestream from Larian’s official Twitch Channel or YouTube account. According to the preview video, Larian will be filming from their new ‘Channel From Hell’ studio. The host, Senior Communications Developer Aoife Wilson, promises that this will be the first live stream with more to come. Therefore, it’s possible that Larian may start to stream updates regarding whichever new game they are working on. However, it’s not likely we’ll see anything new from them too soon. With Patch 8 being the final major update to Baldur’s Gate 3, they’re likely only just starting on development for whatever is coming next.
