This Pokemon Legends Z-A walkthrough will take you through The World’s Greatest Pikachu side quest in the game.
Pokemon Legends Z-A’s The World’s Greatest Pikachu throws you into one of the hardest fights in the game. In this quest, Pikamin wishes to see who the world’s greatest Pikachu is, and to find out, you need to fight and defeat his Pikachu. Sounds doable on paper, but Pikamin’s Pikachu is a one-trick pony that overuses the same trick to the point that it’s frustrating to deal with. In this guide, we’ll help you prepare for the battle and beat Pikamin’s Pikachu for good.

How To Complete The World’s Greatest Pikachu in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Starting Location
You unlock this quest after completing Main Mission 38, after which you need to head to the Battle Court in Rouge Sector 1. This court is directly east of Lysandre Cafe, and north of Wild Zone 20. Head to this location and you’ll find Pikami in the court. You’ll then have to battle Pikamin’s Pikachu in this court.
Preparing for Battle
Before you can fight Pikamin’s Pikachu, he wants you to have only a Pikachu in your party. If you don’t have one already, head over to Wild Zone 6. Cut your way through this zone and reach the Battle Court inside it. Next to this court is a large building with a ladder. Take the ladder up, and you’ll find an Alpha Pikachu sitting on the rooftop. Capture this Pikachu and add it to the party.
Now that you have your own Pikachu, it is time to level it up to Level 66 for a fair fight. Furthermore, since your Pikachu will be battling another Pikachu, you need to teach it the following moves:
- Dig
- Iron Tail
- Protect
- Quick Attack
Dig is the ace up your sleeve in this fight, and you can unlock it by using TM 028. You get this item by talking to an NPC near Hotel Richissime in Rouge Sector 8.
The Battle to Determine the World’s Greatest Pikachu
Now that we’re ready with our Pikachu, it is time to determine who the world’s greatest Pikachu is. Head back to the Battle Court in Rouge Sector 1 and talk to Pikamin. The battle with Pikamin’s Pikachu is a tricky one, largely due to it overusing its Dig.
With Dig, the Pikachu zones in on you and deals a ton of damage. The trick to beating this is to use Dig a moment after the other Pikachu does. This way, you’re both underground, and you get to survive the attack with no health loss. Use this as a defense tool, and beat Pikachu using the other moves you picked up earlier. You’ll get the following as a reward for doing so:
- 700 Poke Dollars
- 3x Exp. Candy L
- 1x Light Ball
